Ministry Roots ("Roots," "we," "us," or "our") provides a platform that helps youth ministry teams track relationships, conversations, and events with students. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have — including special protections for information about minors, since Roots is used by ministry teams working with students under 18.
When you create a Roots account, we collect your name, email address, and any organization or ministry details you provide. When you use Roots to track students, your team may enter student names, contact details, notes on conversations and spiritual milestones, event attendance, and check-in records. This student data is entered and owned by your ministry team, not by the student directly.
We do not sell personal information or student data, and we do not use student data for advertising.
Roots is a tool used by adult volunteers and staff to care for students — it is not directed at or used by children themselves. Ministries are responsible for having appropriate consent and authority to record information about the students in their care, consistent with their own church or organizational policies and applicable law (including COPPA where relevant). We restrict student data to the workspace it was entered in — it is not visible across organizations.
Roots is built with React and Firebase, and deployed on Vercel. Data is encrypted in transit and access is restricted by workspace-level permissions, so your team's data is not accessible to other organizations using Roots. We limit internal access to what's needed to operate and support the product.
We share data only with service providers who help us run Roots (such as our hosting and infrastructure providers), under obligations to protect it, or when required by law.
You can update or delete information within your workspace at any time. To delete your account and associated data entirely, see our Account Deletion page. You may also contact us directly using the information below.
We may update this policy as Roots evolves. We'll update the "Last updated" date above when we do.
